The Association is dedicated to excellence in education and to that end ensures its courses are continually reviewed and revised so that all information taught is up-to-date and relevant. Cancellation Policy 

RFABC requires registrant to cancel registration at least one week prior to the course start date. Cancellation less than one week  prior to the course start date will result in the registration fee being forfeited.

As a result of 3rd party processing fees, RFABC must charge a 10% surcharge for credit card refunds and 5% surcharge for cheques .

WESTERN REGIONAL MASTER TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE (No Longer Available) 

The Western Certificate is a very important step in the development of the Western provincial/territorial Associations. This will enhance the development and growth of the provincial/territorial Associations for their memberships. It will strengthen the link between the Western provincial/territorial associations and it will show we are the true leaders in educational development for our respective associations.

Building Service Worker 1 - Victoria   - Course Location: West Shore -Colwood
Course Description: This course is an introduction to the skills required to work in the building service custodial field. Upon successful completion of the course, including written and skills demonstration exams, the student is issued a BSW 1 certificate. This certificate is a prerequisite or preferred qualification for employment for many school boards, colleges recreation centres and institutions.

Ice Facility Operator - IFO (Surrey)   - Course Location: Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre
Course Description: This 40 hour course - 5 consecutive-8 hour days - prepares students to write the British Columbia Safety Authority BCSA provincial IFO exam. Course content includes basic applied mathematics, safety, codes and regulations, basic refrigeration thermodynamics and system components, floor systems, coolants, electrical systems, heat reclaim and humidity control and general maintenance procedures. The pre-requisite for the BCSA IFO Exam are ; 40 hours of training through completion of the IFO Theory course and exam plus, 30 days’ work experience including completion of the practicum Log Book. The BC Safety Authority requires approximately 30 days’ notice to book an exam. For more information on making application to write the provincial IFO exam, visit the BC Safety Authority Website www.safetyauthority.ca or call toll free 1-866-566-7233. Course participants will receive a Casio fx 260 solar calculator for the course. Topics include water circulation equipment, pool volume calculations, basic chlorine chemistry, Langlier Saturation Index, water balance, water testing, safe handling and storage of pool chemicals. Participants should bring a calculator to class.

Additional Information: 
Course Description: This two day pool program introduces advanced principles in swimming pool operations. The students deal with more complex pool problems and skill on how to solve them. Topics include problem solving, advanced chemistry, energy conservation, trouble shooting, new technology, risk management and program maintenance systems. Time will be spent of the current Health Regulations and how they impact pool operations including the Pool Safety Plan. For people who have completed Pool Safety plans, time will be available for discussion of the plans. Successful candidates completing a written exam will receive a Level II Pool Operator Certificate. This certificate is recognized by the BC Ministry of Health and Municipalities in B.C. Students must have successfully completed RFABC Pool operator 1, prior to taking PO2.
