RFABC Annual Conference Mark these dates in your calendar! -- May 15-17, 2012
Join us in The Energetic City, Fort St John for the 2012 Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia Annual Conference.
In the midst of the economic slowdown, cutbacks and governments being forced to be creative with their budgets, we’ve themed the 2012 Conference ‘Partnerships for an Energetic Tomorrow’. Our aim is to provide you with an opportunity to look at partnerships in the realm of recreation. Learn how some communities have successfully collaborated with school districts, private organizations, and non-profit groups to build, expand, and operate. Are you trying to operate your facility more efficiently? We will offer several sessions that will focus on new technologies that aim to do just that. The Red Cross will be on hand to show how we can expand our programs to increase participation. A local health and wellness professional is going to help explore the benefits and opportunities of collaborating with your local first nations. The BC Safety Authority will be onsite to provide some education on boiler system regulations and we are tapping into RFABC’s Associates to find out how we can be more time and cost effective in our cleaning regimes. As usual, one of the highlights of the conference every year is the tradeshow so stop by to learn from some of the most talented and knowledge people in the business.
We haven’t left out the fun either. Start the conference off with a shotgun start round of golf at the Lone Wolf Golf Course in Taylor followed by the official meet and greet and steak BBQ. Don’t forget to bring your spouse on this trip. Tour around the Alaska Highway, stroll along main street and visit any one of our many boutiques, visit a working oil well, tour the countryside as the farmers start to plant thousands of acres of canola, take a jet boat ride up the mighty Peace River or tour the W.A.C. Bennett Damn, one of the world’s largest earth filled structures.
Fort St. John is The Energetic City, which reflects not only our large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture, but also the vitality of our residents who are keen to live and work in a community that gives back so much. Fort St. John attracts travelers with wilderness and eco-adventures, as well as hunting and fishing. The City features excellent year-round sports facilities.
