Recreation Facilities Association of British ColumbiaWESTERN REGIONAL MASTER TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE
The Western Certificate is a very important step in the development of the Western provincial/territorial Associations. This will enhance the development and growth of the provincial/ territorial Associations for their memberships. It will strengthen the link between the Western provincial/territorial associations and it will show we are the true leaders in educational development for our respective associations.

The files below give the information about the Western Certification program. It costs $50.00 and will ensure that the training you take here in British Columbia is recognized across Western Canada. If you are interested in signing up for the program call the office at 1-877-285-3421 or email the office at info@rfabc.com.

POWER ENGINEERING COURSE
The RFABC and the Pacific Institute of Power Engineering have teamed up to provide a quality 5th Class Power Engineering Correspondence Course (Refrigeration Endorsement). This course can be taken by correspondence over a 6 month period. Fees $690.00 (non refundable, includes GST). Registration is ongoing and you can register anytime. If you are interested and would like to upgrade your qualifications, contact the RFABC office at 1-877-285-3421 or see the registration form in our Facility to Facility magazine. LEISURE DEVELOPMENT COURSE
In June 2009, the 35th Anniversary of the Leisure Development Course took place at the Chilcoot Conference Centre on Silver Star Mountain. Sessions dealt with Developing Personal Leadership; Group Dynamics; Agency & Community Communications and Creative Fundraising. Read about the 2009 program here, then mark your calendar for June 9 - 13, 2010. LANGARA COLLEGE'S TWO YEAR
RECREATION LEADERSHIP DIPLOMA PROGRAM

Recreation Facilities Association of British ColumbiaLangara College in Vancouver, BC is now recruiting students for the September 2010 term of the two-year RECREATION LEADERSHIP DIPLOMA PROGRAM. This program could be of interest to grade 12 graduates wishing to pursue a career in the field.

LANGARA COLLEGE LAUNCHES
BACHELOR OF RECREATION MANAGEMENT DEGREE

Beginning May 2009, Langara College is offering a Bachelor of Recreation Management (BRM) degree completion program. Recreation diploma graduates are eligible to apply to this two-year full time, six-semester, fully online program that provides the next step toward a management position in community recreation. Construction has started at the Pacific National Exhibition grounds in Vancouver, BC for Empire Field. This temporary facility will be the home field for both the BC Lions and the Vancouver Whitecaps while the roof is being replaced at BC Place Stadium. The timeline to finish the facility is this June and some of the materials being used are from the 2010 Winter Olympics Venue at Cypress Mountain. Empire Field

Construction has wrapped at the Pacific National Exhibition grounds in Vancouver, BC for Empire Field. This temporary facility will be the home for both the BC Lions and the Vancouver Whitecaps while the roof is being replaced at BC Place Stadium. The construction work finished in time for the Lion's first exhibition game and they are now enjoying their "old/new" home with play in the regular CFL season.

Some of the materials used in the construction of this facility were from the 2010 Winter Olympics Venue at Cypress Mountain.

Work continues on installing the new roof at BC Place Stadium.
